How to add Smart Autocomplete / Smart Updater to Dynamics 365 (9.1 + lower)

This tutorial will guide you through the steps that are necessary to integrate Smart Autocomplete / Smart Updater into the Lead, Contact and Account forms in Dynamics 365 CRM.

Import our solution

  1. If you are using Dynamics version 9.1 or older, please read this article.
  2. If you are using a newer version of Microsoft Dynamics, please read this article.

Note: Since our internal Microsoft Dynamics 365 is only available in German, the screenshots can't be provided in English after a certain point. For a better orientation, I added the German name which you see in the picture after the English word, for example new (picture: neu).

Add Smart Autocomplete / Smart Updater to lead / contact / account forms

  1. Open the advanced settings.

  2. Select customizations.

  3. Click on "Customize system" (picture: System anpassen).

  4. Open the form list of the entity you want to edit. This will take you to the individual forms. In this tutorial we are working with "Lead".
    1. Components → Entities → Lead → Forms (picture: Komponenten -> Entitäten -> Lead -> Formular)
    2. Components → Entities → Contact → Forms (picture: Komponenten -> Entitäten -> Kontakt-> Formular)
    3. Components → Entities → Company → Forms (picture: Komponenten -> Entitäten -> Firma-> Formular)

  5. Create a new main form (picture: Hauptformular).
  6. Give it a name (picture: Name) and a description (picture: Bezeichnung).
  7. Then click on "Formatting" (picture: Formatierung).

  8. Add a new tab with 3 columns (picture: Spalten) (2 columns for companies).

  8. Select the "Formatting" (picture: Formatierung) tab and change the number of rows (picture: Zeilen) to 2 and remove the tick next to Display frame (picture: Rahmen anzeigen).,
