What is Kiosk Mode and how do I use it?

Learn more about Kiosk Mode, how to set it up and how to use it in the VisitReport app.

With the VisitReport kiosk mode, your visitors can enter their data themselves – quickly, easily, and effortlessly. Let your visitors fill out a questionnaire independently at your trade fair booth and provide their contact details. For capturing contact information, scanning a business card or badge is available.

How to set up Kiosk Mode

Kiosk Mode can be activated in any event in the VisitReport Dashboard. To activate Kiosk Mode, enter the event of your choice and go to "Settings" and then "Terminals & Kiosk Mode". On this page, under the headline "Kiosk Mode" you can find a checkbox to enable Kiosk Mode for this event.

Once enabled, you can customize the content for the start page, contact capture page and the last page of the Kiosk Mode. You can enter a title and content for the pages respectively for each language set up in your event. The questionnaire for Kiosk Mode can be set up as usual under "Questionnaire".

How to use Kiosk Mode in the VisitReport app

To use Kiosk Mode, you need Terminal licenses.

Once you are logged in as a Terminal and selected your Kiosk Mode event, you will see a "Start Kiosk Mode" button to start it. After starting Kiosk Mode, visitors can use it safely. When a visitor reaches the end page, the report will be finalized and exported depending on the settings of your event. After some time, the Kiosk Mode will be reset and go back to the start page.

To leave Kiosk Mode click on the lock on the bottom left and enter the PIN of the Terminal.

What about Follow-up mails?

  • If there is only one variant, the variant will be sent automatically
  • If there are multiple variants with a default variant, the default variant will be sent automatically
  • If there are multiple variants without a default variant, the report will go to "In Progress" and you have to select a variant and export manually.

Tips for best use of Kiosk Mode

  • Kiosk Mode is designed to be used on tablets but also works fine on smartphones
  • Deactivate the possibility to leave the VisitReport app in the system settings of your device
  • If you are using follow-up mails, use only one variant or a default variant to directly export Kiosk Mode reports
  • Consider limiting the fields used for contact capture in the event settings under "Contact capture"
  • Use a simple questionnaire with only a few questions
